Data Centres

There is a rapidly growing need for data storage and processing capacity that is being driven by the rapid growth of the use data in almost every aspect of human activity – social, economic and governmental. This growing need is set to accelerate even further with the forecast growth in Artificial Intelligence (AI) activity.
Without the necessary data centre infrastructure and investment, the UK will not achieve its ambition to be a global leader in a number of key economic sectors. The scope for economic diversification away from traditional industries and the ability to keep pace with other competing and emerging economies during the 21st century will be restricted in the absence of data centre capacity.
The site is located within the Slough Availability Zone and so it is within proximity of other Data Centres to ensure resilience and uptime.
The Slough Availability Zone is the 2nd largest Availability Zone in the world (behind Northern Virginia, USA). Not only is it important to London and the South East but it also illustrates the potential for London and the UK to be a market leader in cutting edge technologies across Europe and globally. It would in turn provide the country with the digital infrastructure to drive other sectors in a modern economy. It does however require a planning system that can facilitate further growth in data centre developments in the locations where they need to be situated.
The proposed data centre will contribute to meeting this growing need and will ensure that Buckinghamshire region benefits from the significant investment, job creation, economic diversification and other opportunities associated with data centre development.
