Potential Benefits Of The Scheme

1. Substantial boost to UK cloud compute capacity

Providing the country with an internationally competitive location to carry out cloud computing, supporting economic growth retain UK leadership in the datacentre space. In this case the data centre will be delivered within the recognised Slough Availability Zone.
2. Substantial inward investment
​
£1bn+ is expected to be invested in this data centre as it is fully built out and there will be opportunities for local businesses.
3. Jobs for local people
​​
Over 200 full-time operational jobs will be created, with average salaries of £50,000 to £60,000. There will be technical roles in electrical and mechanical engineering as well as support roles such as facilities management, security, catering and cleaning services.
4. Supporting local Businesses

Local businesses across Buckinghamshire and the broader region will have an opportunity to tender for new supply chain opportunities
5. Wider Economic Growth

The development would increase the local economy with an annual direct gross value add (GVA) of some circa £120 million. Taking into account wider economic effects, the data centre would support in the order of £270m in GVA and up to 500 FTE extra jobs across London and the wider South East.
6. Education and training programmes

There will be opportunities for local education and skills programmes. These will provide digital skills and training for people in the region, helping them to prepare for jobs in the data technology industry.
7. Sustainable transport and highways improvements

Where necessary the development will make improvements to highways infrastructure and sustainable transport opportunities within the area.
8. Biodiversity net gain

The development will deliver at least 10% biodiversity net gain.
